Lacvoir de la Font des Mines - Association Callas Patrimoine

The Lavoir de la Font des mines, very close to the center of Callas on the way to Saint Auxile, had lost its roof for decades. The association, concerned with preserving our local heritage, has decided to rebuild this roof in the rules of the art so that it can return to its former silhouet.

It also wishes to value this rather neglected property (and its surroundings), which is very popular with Callassians and walkers.

We have already begun to study, to ask for quotations in order to carry out - at best - this task, in partnership with the municipality which has since become involved in the implementation of this project. Volunteering is not enough for a significant financial investment for an association and a municipality at a time when aid from the Region or the Department is scarce.

For these reasons we organize a donation collection or participation through crowdfunding.

THE ROOF

The choice for the roofing is the closest to the old canal tile roof on a chestnut log frame incorporating current safety standards. We are using local companies to try to take local products, which is far from obvious

THE WASHER

The wash itself will remain as it is, with the cleaning and refurbishment of the basin joints and the verification of the water supply channel from the receiving source.

OTHER WORK

The preparatory work shall focus on the cleaning and upgrading of the pillars and the strengthening of the pillars, if necessary to end with the joint of the stones

THE ADVANCES OF THE LAVOIR

Trees that are too close to the wash-hand will be either removed or pruned if they are dangerous to the roof and to walkers. However, it is essential to preserve the bucolic and fresh setting in this relaxing place.

A layout of the surrounding areas (pavement, benches) is under consideration and also appeals to your proposals.
